Singer/Rapper Michael Francis’ latest release is in the form of a cover. Ginuwine’s famous debut single ”Pony” is now on Francis’ roster. I feel it’s a solid remake, he put his own spin on it and it sounds a bit more modernized. Listen here…

Leona Lewis has been releasing her own renditions of a few great songs from the “Hurt : EP” & this time she has covered one of my fav songs EVER, “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls. Leona stamps her own mark on it, stripping it down completely and also, takes a stab at Counting Crows “Colorblind”. Listen here…

This is a rough cover that has everyone buzzing. D’Angelo, mostly known for songs like “Brown Sugar” and “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” has been put on the spot with his rendition of Soundgarden’s 1994 popular rock song. The Roots’ drummer ?uestlove stated that this cover is from 8 years ago and will not be featured on D’Angelo’s new album. Keep in mind that this is a demo version and he has not released the mastered version as of yet. D’Angelo has not released any music since his 2000 album ”Voodoo Child”. Finally, he is set to return to the music industry with his album James River and is scheduled to kick off a brief European tour beginning January 26th in Stockholm. I’m hoping videos from the concerts surface, so that we can see if he hasn’t lost his touch. Press play…

One of my favorite male singer-songwriters, Ne-yo has surfaced with a new song, “The Best Part is You”. I am LOVING this song! I hear elements of legends Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. I know this is just a promotional song, but it only gets me excited for what’s to come from Ne-yo. With songs like, “Do You”, “Closer”, “One in a Million” and “Miss Independent”, I know the new album is going to be something special. Currently, Ne-yo is putting finishing touches on his mixtape 101 and he revealed that his upcoming studio album will be entitled, “The Cracks in Mr. Perfect” dropping early this year.
Produced by Salaam Remi, B.O.B. presents his second single”Play the Guitar” from his upcoming album Strange Clouds, due in stores in March. On the track, he has a special guest, none other than Andre 3000! I was excited about this collaboration because the first time I heard B.O.B. rap, this is what I envisioned! For me, Andre has the golden touch, he is the one who made this track what it is with his verse. The track also features a sample from one of B.O.B.’s inspirations, the King of the South, T.I. While Rick Ross prepares his upcoming mixtape Rich Forever & studio LP God Forgives, I Don’t, he has also been spewing out remixes left & right. This time around, Ross is joined by Philly’s own Meek Mill for a remix of Jay & Ye’s “No Church in the Wild”…when I first heard this song, I could not take it off of repeat, but I don’t know if the remix will have the same effect. It’s cool, but for me, it does not top the original. Listen here… {Disclaimer: The following audio is explicit}
After previously collaborating on “Letting Go”, Sean Kingston and Nicki Minaj give it another try with “Born to be Wild”. Produced by J.R. Rotem with sampling of the 1960s doo-wop single “The Lion Sleeps Tonight” by The Tokens, the duo brings us a fun-filled track. Minaj begins rapping in her alter-ego as Martha with a British accent and Kingston stays true to form with his usual rapping cadence…Listen here!
