Grammy award-winning producer The-Dream returns with “High Art,” a collaboration with Jay-Z from the forthcoming LP, IV Play, due in stores May 28th. The album will feature additional collaborations with Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Pusha T, Big Sean, Kelly Rowland and 2 Chainz. New Song: Jay-Z “Open Letter”

Music mogul Jay-Z premiered a new song on Hot 97 this morning teaming up with super-producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland for “Open Letter.”

Hov addresses recent hot topics including his controversial trip to Cuba with Beyoncé (“I done turned Havana to Atlanta”), his ownership stake in the Brooklyn Nets (“I still own the building, I’m still keeping my seats”), his new deal with Universal Music (“Got an onion from Universal, read it and weep”), and more.

Swizz explained how the collaboration came together. “[Beyoncé] came in the studio and Just Blaze came in the studio and this thing just extended to another level,” he told Hot 97. “The whole thing started with me making a track in Jay’s office, and it just led to ‘Open Letter’ and people learning about things today.”

Buzz: Jay-Z Launches Roc Nation Sports

Jay-Z is expanding his empire with the launch of Roc Nation Sports, a full-service sports management company.

According to the New York Post, Roc Nation Sports will be led by the hip-hop mogul with Juan Perez serving as president. They have partnered with CAA Sports, a division of Creative Artists Agency, and signed New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano as their first client.

“Because of my love of sports, it was a natural progression to form a company where we can help top athletes in various sports the same way we have been helping artists in the music industry for years,” said Jay-Z.

Cano is a member of the Yankees’ 2009 World Series championship team, a four-time Silver Slugger Award winner, and two-time Gold Glove Award winner.

“At this point in my career, I am ready to take a more active role in my endeavors both on and off the field,” said Cano. “I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short- and long-term goals. I am making this important decision now so I can keep my focus on helping the Yankees succeed in 2013, while minimizing any distractions for me and my teammates.” Continue reading

For the official remix of “B*tch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” Kendrick Lamar is joined by one of his idols, Jay-Z. Previously previewed by Young Guru previewed at SXSW last week and now the full version is available. K-Dot told MTV, “That’s the big homie. It’s one of them things, you know, you live up to and one of them moments to really challenge yourself and say ‘OK, that’s how I come in. Lights, camera, action! Justin Timberlake makes his long-awaited return to the stage in the video for “Suit & Tie,” the lead single off his first album in six years, The 20/20 Experience, due March 19.

Directed by David Fincher (The Social Network), the black-and-white visuals co-star Jay-Z and feature some slick moves from J.T. The dapper gentlemen—and potential tourmates—get dressed up in their finest tuxedos and perform on stage in the Rat Pack-inspired clip.

He’s FINALLY back! After a six year hiatus from music & his last release, multi-platinum album FutureSex/LoveSounds, Justin Timberlake is ready once more! JT hit the studio last summer and other than Timbaland, he couldn’t allow this project continue without a collaboration from music mogul, Jay-Z. The new song “Suit & Tie” was produced by Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, and Jerome “J-ROC” Harmon. New Song: Rick Ross ft. Jay-Z & Dr. Dre “3 Kings”

Off of the upcoming album God Forgives, I Don’t, due in stores July 31st, Rick Ross enlists hip-hop legends in the game Jay-Z and Dr. Dre for his brand new track “3 Kings”. “You already know ’3 Kings, ‘ I feel it’s the biggest collaboration in hip-hop. Not just this year, maybe previous years,” Rick Ross told MTV News. “I got on the phone with Dre and we were just talking about collaborating and he was gonna come down to Miami for the first time to record with me in my element, in my zone,” Ross stated of “3 Kings.” Dr. Dre traveled to Rozay’s hometown to mix it up, “He came to Miami. I walked in the studio, I seen big homey, I turnt up,” Ross explained. “First night in the studio we went and did five records.” Then Ross speaks on the additional collaboration in mogul, “Jay-Z, that’s my big homey man and from day one anything I’ve ever asked O.G. for he always came through for me, so it’s vice-versa.” “He got a gangsta right here for life.” Ross was officially signed to Def Jam in 2006 and he stated that he and Jay-Z had previous works together prior to this track. “Me and Jay had another record already recorded. I’m pretty sure I’m one of the only people that could’ve called for another verse, before I put out the other record and get it done. Buzz: Jay-Z to headline Philly music festival

On Monday morning (May 14th), rap’s most magnetic man drew a crowd of reporters and media types to the very steps that the fictional boxer Rocky has made famous. Standing triumphantly at the peak of the staircase of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Hov and Philly Mayor Michael Nutter announced yet another prolific Jay-venture: Budweiser Made in America, a two-day music festival in Philadelphia, this Labor Day weekend.

“Everyone knows my love affair with Philly from the amazing, talented artists I’ve signed from here,” Jay said, prompting State Property MC Freeway to jump onstage beside him.

Jay-Z will not only headline the festival, he will also curate the three-stage concert, which will feature close to 30 different acts. Still, for the God MC, there are a few things to consider before pulling off stunts such as these.
