New Song: Frank Ocean ft. André 3000 and Big Boi “Pink Matter (Remix)”

12 Jan

Frank Ocean’s remix of “Pink Matter” featuring Andre Benjamin a.k.a Andre 3000 with a new verse by Big Boi premiered on Elliot Wilson’s East Village Radio show “Keep It Thoro”. Big Boi first revealed news about the collaboration on his Tumblr account when he posted a snapshot of the song’s lyrics, hinting that he was writing a new verse for the Andre 3000-assisted track from Frank Ocean’s, Channel Orange album.

Ocean had initially wanted both Outkast members for the original version of “Pink Matter” but Big Boi reportedly did not want to reunite with Andre 3000 on someone else’s track. “I was busy doing my record,” said the rapper/record producer, “and we didn’t want to commercially release an Outkast song on someone else’s album.”

Since the original version features only Andre 3000′s rhyming skills, Big Boi has had a change of heart and has written the new verse. He will also add a verse to T.I.’s “Sorry” which his Outkast partner had also collaborated on. Continue reading

Buzz: Frank Ocean announces upcoming album & new song

9 Jun

Artist-producer Frank Ocean has announced his upcoming project “Channel Orange” with a release date of July 17th, confirmed by Def Jam. The highly-anticipated album will follow his 2011 release Nostalgia, Ultra, which Ocean delivered against the label’s direction because he felt they were not giving him ample attention to mold his artistry. The mixtape had everyone buzzing from singles “Novacane”, “Swim Good” and “Thinkin’ Bout You,” which was released to iTunes in April and everyone made their own renditions on YouTube. “It succinctly defines me as an artist for where I am right now and that was the aim, just to make something that represents where you are at that time,” Ocean told BBC of his upcoming work. “It’s about the stories. If I write 14 stories that I love, then the next step is to get the environment of music around it to best envelop the story and all kinds of sonic goodness.” Listen to Ocean’s new song below entitled, “Pyramids” that almost touches on 10 minutes!
