Held at Green Point Stadium, Cape Town in South Africa merely over a decade ago, musicians honored the legacy of Mr. Nelson Mandela at the 46664 benefit concert in hopes to bring awareness to the AIDS epidemic in South Africa.
Mr. Mandela was imprisoned on Robben Island in 1964 and for 27 years he was labeled “Prisoner 46664.” He was the 466th prisoner to arrive that year, which is the significance of the number. It was not until 1990 that Mr. Mandela was released. For many years, Mr. Mandela dedicated his life to the issues of inequality, racism, poverty, AIDS and helps change the world through his philanthropic works.
Musicians that gathered to perform were Anastasia, Beyoncé, Eurythmics, Queen, Bono and The Edge of U2, Youssou N’Dour, Soweto Gospel Choir, Dave Stewart, Robert Plant, Bob Geldof and many more.
In closing, Mr. Mandela was an eloquent speaker & one of my most favorite quotes from him was: “What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”
Please watch the concert to honor the life and legacy of Mr. Nelson Mandela and his unwavering works to serve humanity. May he finally rest in peace! Continue reading
While we’ll have to wait until 2014 for a new album, Beyoncé holds her BeyHive over with a new song called “God Made You Beautiful.” Blue Ivy’s mom shares her joy as she sings about her daughter on the drum-patterned ballad.
“When you were born, the angels sighed in delight/ They never thought they’d see such a beautiful sight,” sings an angelic-voiced Bey. “You took a breath and the world was right again/ Tears were shed, how I have been blessed/ And your love it shines so bright/ You bring me back to life, back to life/ You make everything right.”
On November 25, Beyoncé will release her documentary Life Is But a Dream on DVD. The two-disc set includes a live concert film plus a download of the new song.
UPDATE: You can now listen to the full song below. Continue reading
While Mr. Carter has been busy making headlines today about the unveiling of prices on his new collection with Barney’s, Mrs. Carter is busy doing a little unveiling of her own.
Premiering fresh new shots of what seems to be promo material for her upcoming album, the “Grown Woman” singer is seen looking fabulous! The album, which is as quiet as its kept, has no word on when it will be arriving for fans.
Recently completing the first run of her tour only to be preparing for the second leg of the North America tour, Beyoncé also found the time to shoot a visual for one of the tracks off of her upcoming project! WERK!
Undeniably one of the hardest working artists we’ve seen, Queen B is cooking up something special for the kids! Check out the flicks after the jump! Continue reading
Beyoncé was spotted shooting yet another new music video for a song we haven’t heard….or have we?
People close to the set claim they heard “Bow Down” being played.
She shot the video at the old Hawthorne Mall in California. Judging from these pictures, Bey’s going gangsta-couture on us…or maybe it was just cold outside.
If you listen closely to the video below, you can in fact hear a bit of “Bow Down” faintly in the background. Could the song be getting the official video treatment?
Just in time for the holidays, Beyoncé will be releasing her documentary Life is But a Dream on DVD (November 25th), and the singer previews a new song in the trailer.
The ballad “God Made You Beautiful” runs through the length of the promo, meaning maybe, possibly, those rumors of new Beyoncé music by the end of the year might be true.
The pop star seemed on track for a new album earlier this year after the soft releases of “Bow Down,” “Grown Woman” and “Standing in the Sun.” But then, nothing materialized. It didn’t help that collaborating producer Diplo confirmed that the song he’d been working on with B had been scrapped, leading fans to wonder what was going on, but since no official release date was issued, there could only be speculation.
Maybe “God Made You Beautiful” is a sign that new music is on its way! Continue reading
The BeyHive has been all abuzz over Beyoncé’s official 2014 calendar. Now Bey gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the making of her first calendar. She models high-fashion looks as she strikes a pose in the stylish shots, photographed by Herring & Herring.
Looking angelic in all white, Mrs. Carter rocks a blonde bob. She trades it for long locks while taking a seat on a plastic-covered couch underneath a chandelier.
In another shot, Bey teases the camera as she peeks out from behind a door, and holds a cardboard cutout over her voluptuous figure.
The calendar, which makes a great holiday gift for any Bey fan, is now available at shop.beyonce.com

Kicking off the annual Made in America Festival as the headliner here in Philadelphia was none other than international superstar Beyoncé who stopped by to give an amazing performance with the Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. Beyoncé set up shop at Coney Island while shooting a music video on Thursday. The blonde singer was all smiles as she rode the Coney Island Cyclone roller coaster with her stylist Ty Hunter, sporting a hat with Biggie’s face on it. She used a robe to cover up while making her way to the set.
Fans swarmed the amusement park to get a glimpse of the superstar, who waved to them as she walked by. Photographer Terry Richardson was also spotted on set, leading some to believe that he may be directing it.
On Saturday, Beyoncé will headline the first day of the Made in America Festival in Philadelphia.

Beyoncé has already conquered pop, rock and soul (among many other genres) in her iconic career, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that she just added country to the list with an incredible acoustic remix of “Grown Woman”. As with most things Bey-related, the project is shrouded in mystery. It could be official or simply the work of an extremely talented fan with too much time on their hands.
All I know for sure is that the booty-poppin’ jam survives the genre transplant perfectly — always an indicator of songwriting quality. Oh and that B’s vocal is absolute perfection. Hearing Beyonce quip “bitch, I’m grown!” over a plucked guitar is one of my musical highlights of 2013. I just fell in love with “Grown Woman” all over again.

Beyoncé has sat down with Oprah Winfrey and Barbara Walters, but this time, it was a 10-year-old asking her the questions. As part of World Humanitarian Day 2013, the pop icon was interviewed by YouTube sensation Kid President.
“I can’t believe I’m sitting here with the Kid President. I was very excited to meet you today,” said Bey, who is an ambassador for World Humanitarian Day.
Dressed in a suit and tie, the young interviewer asked about her involvement. “I think it’s so important for us to take some time and be unselfish and have compassion because we really can impact the world,” said Bey.
Before ending the interview, Bey asked Kid President for a kiss on the cheek and for the first time, he became bashful.
Watch the adorable moment below.
Beyoncé closed out the first leg of her North American tour with the last of three shows at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Monday. After performing “Bow Down,” BK’s own Jay-Z joined his wife on stage for “Tom Ford.” The crowd cheered as Bey stood by her man and provided ad libs. She kissed her hubby before he walked offstage.
Her sister Solange was in the crowd, tweeting, “My sister literally just wrecked that show. She is simply, the best.”
The “Mrs. Carter Show World Tour” continues to Latin America and Australia next before returning to the U.S. in December.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z joined thousands seeking justice for Trayvon Martin in rallies held across the country on Saturday. The superstar couple showed their support alongside Bey’s mother Tina Knowles, Trayvon’s mother Sybrina Fulton, and Rev. Al Sharpton, whose organization the National Action Network organized the New York vigil following George Zimmerman’s acquittal last weekend.
The Carters wore wristbands that said “I Am Trayvon Martin” as they listened to Fulton and Sharpton speak to the crowd outside the federal courthouse.
Beyoncé posted a message on her website and encouraged others to sign a petition for the Justice Department to open a civil rights case against Zimmerman.
“We have made so much progress and cannot allow hatred and racism to divide us,” read the note. “When we all join together, people of all races, we have the power to change the world we live in. We must fight for Trayvon the same way the generation before us fought for Emmett Till.”
The vigil was one of 100 held across the country, from L.A. to Miami.
Beyoncé held a moment of silence for Trayvon at her Nashville concert and Jay-Z dedicated “Young Forever” to the slain teen at his “Legends of the Summer” tour kickoff in Toronto earlier this week. View video of Bey & Jay attending the rally here… Continue reading
