The OSI processing plant in Toledo, Spain expanded it’s production line in 2017 to increase output from 12,000 to over 24,000 tons of chicken annually. This increase in production allowed the company to add 20 new jobs and the total output capacity for all meats at the plant rose to over 45,000 tons per year. Sheldon Lavin and his management team decided to boost production because of increased demand in the region. This trend is expected to increase in the coming years. Sheldon Lavin wants to ensure that OSI stays ahead of the competition and is able to fulfill it’s customers needs.
The improvements to the plant added 22,600 square feet of production space. Besides increased production, the space will be used to add new products, attract new accounts and grow with the industry. To improve safety, OSI added a new security system and a fire suppression system. The plant is also focused on the environment and made improvements to reduce energy consumption by 20%. One way this is accomplished is by recycling machine heat. Sheldon Lavin is focused on innovative ideas at all of OSI’s facilities. In 2016, OSI received an award from the Toledo Chamber of Commerce for bringing jobs to the area.
