Sunday’s Best most recent winner Amber Bullock just dropped the official video for her first single “Lord You’ve Been So Good” from her debut album, So In Love. I really love this song! It’s the perfect balance between inspirational and soul & frankly, Amber has some of the dopest vocal runs I’ve ever heard. All songs on the album were produced by YMCMB’s PJ Morton, who also makes a cameo in the clip. Watch now! Continue reading
Behind the Scenes: Bilal
31 AugGrammy nominated artist Bilal Oliver brings forth the second installment of “Being Bilal,” which displays behind the scenes footage of Bilal and his band preparing for a concert in Washington, DC at the historic Howard Theatre. I love how Bilal speaks of not rehearsing too much because he would rather the band live in the moment & flow spontaneously. Contrary to popular belief, that’s what makes for a great artist! Directed by Brian Luvar and Executive Produced by Bilal Oliver and Hans Elder…watch here!
Center Stage: Maimouna Youssef
31 AugMeet METY’s latest Center Stage artist Maimouna Youssef…the multifaceted force who is a singer-songwriter, poet and emcee from Baltimore. In 2007, Youssef earned a Grammy nomination for her contribution on Philly band The Roots hit “Don’t Feel Right” in the best rap song category. For the featured video “Meet Me In Brazil,” Youssef collaborated with director Brian Kyle Atkins and you may see a familiar face, actor Lamman Rucker (Meet the Browns, Why Did I Get Married) appears as the leading man. The track is from Maimouna’s sixth release entitled, The Blooming. In the clip, Maimouna is in hopes of reigniting the passion in her marriage that has somehow dwindled due to the couples’ hectic schedules. We LOVE the vibe she’s on! Check out “Mumu Fresh,” watch below…

New Video: Grace Potter & the Nocturnals “Stars”
30 AugOne of my favorite bands Grace Potter & the Nocturnals recently released their new video “Stars,” off of the album The Lion The Beast The Beat. I’ve always loved Grace’s songwriting ability, here she sings, “All those times we looked up at the sky, looking out so far, we felt like we could fly & now I’m all alone in the dark of night, the moon is shining, but I can’t see the light & I can’t look at the Stars, they make me wonder where you are.” Beautiful! New Video: Dawn Richard “Wild N’ Faith”
29 AugAs you know I’ve been raving about singer Dawn Richard because she always seems to bring something refreshing to the world of music and just released is the third official clip “Wild N’ Faith” from her EP, Armor On. The conceptual video is the final visual from the EP, which segues into Richard’s upcoming project Goldenheart, available October 16th. The clip actually joins two songs in one “Wild N’ Young” and “Faith,” hence the title “Wild N’ Faith.” Dawn explains, “I am the goddess of faith sent to restore faith in my apparitions. This carries the modern day Joan of Arc theme for Goldenheart. Each outfit carries a look of armor.” Directed by Eugene Lee Yang. Watch now! Continue reading
New Song: Bridget Kelly “Special Delivery”
28 AugMETY was founded because every time I would hear a song that I fell in love with, I always felt that I had to endorse it & share it with someone, as I hope others will do for me in the upcoming months and “Special Delivery” by Roc Nation artist Bridget Kelly is such a goodie that I just cannot get out of my head! The first time METY introduced the artist was following her EP, Every Girl and her infectious Frank Ocean-penned track, “Thinkin’ Bout You” that sparked a plethora of covers. Now Kelly has returned with the studio version of her emotional break-up song, “Special Delivery,” which she previously premiered at the 2012 Essence Music Festival. The track will serve as the first single from Bridget’s forthcoming LP. Produced by Eric Hudson. Listen below… Continue reading

New Video: Lianne La Havas “Forget”
27 Aug22 year-old Lianne La Havas just debuted her new video “Forget” as she continues promoting her brand new album, Is Your Love Big Enough? La Havas explained the inspiration behind her music, stating, “I’m very influenced by the old blues and generally just singing from your heart. Singers like Billie Holiday sang as if they had been through [life], so I’m really influenced by that and I wanted to inject that into the record. I’ve used the songs on the album to demonstrate my head and heart over the last three years. There seems to be a mishmash of things influencing artists these days and their music sounds like you can’t put your finger on it. I think all music feeds other music and then manifests itself in whatever way it does.” Watch now… Continue reading
