British singer Ellie Goulding released her new video for the cover of Active Child’s “Hanging On,” featuring rapper Tinie Tempah. She sings, “Tell me if you feel this pain/ ‘Cause I don’t want to be a ball and chain/ I just can’t keep hanging on, to you and me,” while plainly standing with her back against the white wall. Goulding is currently placing finishing touches on the follow-up to her 2010 debut “Lights,” which reportedly is scheduled to release later this year.
Hip-hop artist Kendrick Lamar recently debuted his single “Swimming Pools (Drank),” produced by YMCMB hitmaker T-Minus (“Moment 4 Life,” “I’m On One,” “HYFR”). As all of you METY viewers know, Kendrick Lamar’s Section.80 placed Top 10 in our Best of 2011, so we are definitely excited about this upcoming album. Material girl Madonna is back with a summer anthem in her latest single “Turn Up the Radio.” The visuals were shot in Florence, Italy, as she embarked on her 2012 MDNA tour. The pop icon goes on a road trip with her vintage convertible picking up hitchhikers and one of them happens to be her real-life boyfriend, Brahim Zaibat. Following the release of the first installment from her Human Condition EP series, singer-songwriter Wynter Gordon premieres the music video for lead single “Stimela,” taken from the “Doleo” EP and inspired by Hugh Masekala’s anti-apartheid song. The track’s chorus is in Zulu and a genre categorized as African-pop, therefore the video incorporates befitting tribal dance.
