Throwback of the Day: Stevie Wonder

11 Jul

Legend Stevie Wonder is a musical genius that touched my life immensely with his artistry. His musicianship is God-given because of the way he’s able to touch his audience beyond his disability. To me, his compositions are much like poetry and when his voice is applied, it’s magical. When I first started to dive into Stevie’s catalog, it was as if I had an epiphany, I thought to myself, sooo this is what it’s all about! Stevie taught me to create lyrics that are meaningful when I write and not to necessarily focus on trends or what’s hot at the moment, but what my heart says. “Superwoman (Where Were You When I Needed You)” is one of my MOST favorite songs he’s ever composed. I love everything about it with the key changes, lyrics, guitar chord progressions, soulful vocals and of course, the unscripted adlibs. Wonder’s music is very spiritual to me, being that one can feel his spirit through song…it’s so uplifting & overall, gives off an amazing vibe. His works are masterpieces to me and I believe they transcend time! Press play…
