Multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning artist Alanis Morissette is set to deliver her highly anticipated seventh studio LP entitled, Havoc and Bright Lights on August 28th via Collective Sounds/Sony RED! She recently stated about the album, “There is a lack of apology for the kind of person I am. I used to have some shame around my Ph.D, psychological part and shame about being spiritual, or shame about being emotional or sensitive. And what I know now, or what I feel now, is that I don’t have shame for those parts. It might piss people off or rub them the wrong way or have them roll their eyes. I don’t care.” Alanis recorded the album following the birth of her son Ever Imre, therefore, motherhood definitely impacted her creative space and thinking. “This record, as always, is a snapshot of what I currently obsess about, care deeply about, and what strikes me at 4 in the morning in my most introspective moments,” Morissette explained in a press release. “It is my emotional, psychological, social and philosophical commentary through song. I can’t wait to share it with this fun and funny planet, and to tour, and can’t WAIT to have the lively, engaging and challenging conversations that these songs may invite.” Havoc and Bright Lights will be her first new album since 2008′s Flavors of Entanglement. I’ve always loved Alanis, especially Jagged Little Pill, it’s an album that I personally consider one of the greatest of all-time, so I’m really excited about this release because her artistry is boundless. Currently, Morissette is touring Europe, which wraps on July 21st in Rome…hopefully she adds some U.S. dates!
