New Song: Wynter Gordon “Stimela”

22 Jun

Singer-songwriter Wynter Gordon has parted ways with Atlantic/Big Beat subsequent to the release of her latest single “Still Getting Younger.” Now Gordon has planned to independently release a collection of four EPs collectively entitled, The Human Condition. The first installment “Doleo” (Latin for “pain”) will drop July 9th, free for download. According to Gordon, each installment will experience different emotions (“love and lust” to release next) and contain various genres beyond her usual dance lane. The first single “Stimela,” off of Doleo was inspired by Hugh Masekala’s eponymous anti-apartheid song and contains a chorus sung in Zulu dialect and features African-pop production. Gordon recently stated, “The music I’m making now is music I’ve always made, I’ve just never been able to release it on a label. I was growing into this person I am now, and I had to make the music that felt right and was passionate about. I didn’t feel like I was singing everything I wanted to sing, doing dance music and pop music. I wanted to make something that felt real to me. These EPs include every genre of music I like. I really just felt like I had to by myself.” All upcoming songs from “The Human Condition” are written by Wynter Gordon. Listen to “Stimela” below & tell us what you think!
