New Song: Luke James “Mo’ Better Blues”

13 Apr

This is a moment many fans have been waiting for, more music from burgeoning R&B star Luke James. The rising crooner and ladies man returns with a brand new tune titled “Mo’ Better Blues,” in which he released via YouTube. If the “blues” have been missing from R&B then Luke is here to bring it back. The New Orleans native keeps the “real” feelings of his organic sound, and powerful vocal alive and well, on the heartfelt tune, which is expected to be a taste of her much-anticipated debut album, due out later this year on NARS/Mercury/Island Def Jam. Produced by “Deadmau5″…listen here!

YouTube Sirens: Tori Kelly

13 Apr

She is such a talented artist to me. Tori Kelly has plenty of fans that know her level of skill with the previous covers she has recorded. Kelly performed her own version of songs made famous by: John Mayer, Beyoncé, Bruno Mars, Adele and more. I love her brand new video for her original song “Confetti.” Tori stated, “This is a song about being happy with wherever you are in life & living for the moment.” Love the cadence, interpretation of notes she used and the message of the song. Also, she can SING! To view more of Kelly’s covers and original songs, visit her YouTube channel: ToriKelly!

Throwback of the Day: Suzanne Vega

13 Apr

This is one of my FAV songs ever… ”Tom’s Diner” was written in the 80s by Suzanne Vega, originally as an acapella, but when I first happened to hear the track, it was over an infectious instrumental and I just could not get the song out of my head! Here is Vega performing the song in an acoustic set backed by guitar and bass. She’s so cool! I love her voice so much, however this is probably the only song I will ever love where the vocals are pretty much monotone. Also, included after the jump is the 1990 groove remix featuring DNA. Press play!

New Video: Jade Alston “Searching”

13 Apr

Songstress Jade Alston recently dropped her first video “Searching,” in promotion of her mixtape Single on a Saturday Night, which was previously posted for download here: Jade Alston’s Mixtape. The track was written by Alston and the visual was directed by Gianni Lee. I love the tonality presented, nice dynamics, especially toward the bridge section. METY looks forward to hearing much more! Check her out…

New Song: Stacie Orrico “Catch Me If You Can”

13 Apr

Singer/Keyboardist Stacie Orrico has lots of people talking following her cover of The Fugees’ “Ready Or Not” with The Fray and now she has independently released her new single “Catch Me If You Can,” featuring The Gabe Cummins Orchestra. Orrico obviously is a jazz fan (as am I) and has been noted stating that one of her biggest inspirations was the late, great Ms. Ella Fitzgerald. Currently, she is working on her fourth studio album, so stay tuned!

New Song: Karyn White “Unbreakable”

13 Apr

This song is strictly for the grown & sexy! One of my all-time fav songs of the 90s was “Superwoman” by Karyn White and now, she’s back with a new song entitled, “Unbreakable” off of her new project Carpe Diem: Seize the Day. White recently revealed that she took a break from the music industry to dive into real estate and interior designing, but now she has rekindled her love affair with music. Love the vibe of this record. She hasn’t missed a beat! Also, I must let you guys know, I was sent an exclusive listen of her work from the upcoming LP and it sounds amazing! Listen here…
