Throwback of the Day: Marvin Gaye

9 Dec

In my mind, music transcends space and time and one of my all-time favorite singers was the late, great Dear Mr. Gaye (as Teena Marie would say). Marvin Gaye spoke of reality and applied it to music. His tone and the melodies of the songs he did will outlive time & because of that, so many artists have been inspired by him. The lyrics of “Inner City Blues” are profound to me because of its truth. I love this song! Press play…

Buzz: Jay-Z performing at Carnegie Hall

9 Dec

“It’s every artist’s dream to play a venue as legendary as Carnegie Hall,” stated Jay-Z.  “The fact that I can use the arts and my talent to benefit the education of the next generation of artists, entrepreneurs, and great thinkers makes for a legendary night.  I’m proud to be a part of the continuing work of United Way of New York City and expanding the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.” Scheduled to perform two benefit concerts at Carnegie’s Stern Auditorium on February 6th at 8pm and February 7th at 9:30pm. Music mogul Jay-Z will donate all of the proceeds from the concert to facilitate college tuition for low-income students of New York. I believe it’s such a commendable thing that he’s doing! This is not the first time Jay has given away total concert proceeds, therefore, it’s great to hear that he will give back once again!

Exclusive VIP packages are scheduled to go on sale December 12th and public tickets sales begin January 30th.

YouTube Sirens: Fynn Farrell

9 Dec

This is one you may have to watch fully to trust my judgment…presented is another YouTube artist I love, Fynn Farrell. His cover of Lady Gaga’s “Marry the Night” honestly had me in awe. It’s so many good things about his rendition. I loved when he threw in a little falsetto towards the end, as well as, the a capella closing, he REALLY did his thing. For more Fynn Farrell covers, visit his YouTube channel: FynnRetroFreak! Watch here…

“Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life… Therein he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated. Thus, everyone’s task is as unique as is his specific opportunity to implement it.” – Viktor Frankl
